once a professor known for being one of the harshest graders and known for being a disciplinarian, ian had been picked solely because alecto provides an interesting sort of challenge for her minders. when his former master died, ian took over and hand picked dexter patreverett, someone he knew could deal with the power gifted to the apprentice without having the same issues he had. nowadays, ian finds himself making sure that alecto doesn't cause...too much havoc (despite occasionally encouraging her when he wields someone's guilt) and wondering why in the hell he ever agreed to do this in the first place.
